NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a 25-year-old straphanger was stabbed during a quarrel over a subway seat with another man.

They say it happened Sunday afternoon aboard a southbound No. 2 train at Third Avenue and East 149th Street in the Bronx.

During the dispute, the suspect pulled out a sharp object and stabbed the victim in the abdomen and left arm.

Police say the attacker then fled.

The victim was hospitalized in stable condition.
