LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - McNeese State University has added a new degree program to reflect the growing needs and changes in health care.

The American Press reports (https://bit.ly/1eOXZNb) students can now earn a Bachelor of Science in Health Systems Management with a concentration in health care quality improvement, care coordination or health care management. The coursework is offered through the university’s nursing program.

Peggy Wolfe, dean of the college, said the degree is geared toward students who are interested in science, business and health care but don’t necessarily want to be nurses or provide direct care to patients. She said that in today’s world, both nursing and health system management graduates are working side by side but have very different job responsibilities.
