July 28—Community members can enjoy a grill-out and pool party by attending the local National Night Out Monday, Aug. 3, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Batesville Memorial Pool.

Sponsored by the Coalition for a Drug-Free Batesville and the William R. Rayner Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 177, the event features free swimming plus refreshments, including hamburgers and hot dogs, which will be grilled by area law enforcement members; chips and water. Attendees will also have an opportunity to sign up for door prizes, reports coalition coordinator Kim Linkel.

In addition, the Batesville Police Department K-9 unit will be on site, and several local agencies will have information tables.

“The purpose of the event is to build community cohesiveness and the bond between the community and local law enforcement,” she reveals. “I encourage the public to attend so they can get to know others throughout the community as well as meet local law enforcement and learn what services agencies throughout the community provide.

“This event is free to all and a last chance to get out and enjoy the summer before heading back to school.”
