CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (AP) - A suspect has pleaded not guilty in the shooting death of a woman whose slaying is one of several deaths and disappearances troubling a southern Ohio city.

Jason McCrary is charged with murder in the death of Timberly Claytor earlier this year.

The indictment carries the possibility of additional prison time because the 37-year-old McCrary is alleged to have used a gun in the slaying and is allegedly a repeat violent offender under Ohio law because of a previous conviction of aggravated robbery.

The body of the 38-year-old Claytor was found in nearby Massieville on May 29.

The Chillicothe (chihl-ih-KAHTH’-ee) Gazette reports (https://ohne.ws/1OylRGa ) McCrary entered a not guilty plea Monday in Ross County Court. He remains jailed on $850,000 bond.
