July 28—The Army’s 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks lost three soldiers in as many days on Oahu, one on a roadway and two in the ocean.

Motorcyclist Matthew Good, 29, died Friday of multiple blunt force injuries, the city Medical Examiner’s Office said Monday.

Good was speeding Friday on Wilikina Drive near Kamananui Road in Wahiawa when he lost control of his motorcycle, hit a utility pole and slid into a car driven by a 25-year-old man, police said. He was wearing a helmet but died at the scene.

It was the 30th Oahu traffic death this year, compared with 34 at the same time a year ago.

The Medical Examiner’s Office also Monday identified two Schofield Barracks soldiers who apparently drowned near the Halona Blowhole over the weekend.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death of Caleb Collins, 22, and Shyhein Andrews, 21, who were swept into the ocean at about 4:45 p.m. Saturday during rough surf conditions. Their bodies were recovered Sunday.

The men were on the rocks taking pictures at Halona Beach Cove, also known as From Here to Eternity Beach, when a wave swept Andrews into the ocean. Collins tried to help and was also swept into the ocean, officials said. A third man was also swept into the water, but he was able to climb back out, said Fire Department Battalion Chief Geoff Chang.

Rescue divers found Andrews’ body underwater just outside the cove at about 6:45 a.m. Sunday. Collins’ body washed up just east of Halona Blowhole shortly before 7 p.m.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends,” said Master Sgt. Mark St. Clair, 25th Infantry Division spokesman.
