SPRINGDALE, Md. (AP) - Authorities say a man who was reported missing has been found alive after being trapped under a tree close to his home.

Officials say 66-year-old Larry Shaddy was discovered Monday afternoon by a pedestrian who noticed a man stuck beneath a tree and called for help.

Mark Brady, a spokesman from Prince George’s County Fire and Rescue, says it appears Shaddy may have fallen or slid down an embankment and underneath a tree that had already fallen.

Brady says Shaddy was taken to the hospital with apparently minor injuries to his legs.

Shaddy was reported missing on July 20 from a veteran’s home in Springdale. Authorities have spent a week searching for him.

Officials say the area where Shaddy was found is less than a block away from his home.
