OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office says an inmate at the county jail died after being found unresponsive in his cell.

Sheriff’s spokesman Mark Opgrande said Tuesday that 66-year-old Charles Land was pronounced dead at a local hospital where he was taken after his cellmate contacted guards and said Land was not breathing.

Land was booked into the jail on July 20 after being arrested for failing to appear in court on charges related to a driving under the influence and transporting an open container of alcohol.

Opgrande says the cause of death will be determined by the Oklahoma state medical examiner’s office.
