July 28—OAKLAND — Robbers shot and killed a 20-year-old man and wounded his friend early Tuesday in East Oakland, police said.

Two other men were wounded by gunfire in separate incidents late Monday night also in East Oakland. Police said the three shootings do not appear to be related.

The name of the man killed, who police said was a security guard who lived in Oakland, was not released pending notification of relatives. The name of the 24-year-old woman with him was not released.

They were shot about 12:36 a.m. Tuesday as they sat in a car in the 1300 block of 75th Avenue.

Police said the woman had picked the man up from his job site in San Leandro and they were on 75th Avenue to meet a friend.

While sitting in the car some men approached from outside and shot them, Sgt. Michael Cardoza said.

The suspects then fled with the woman’s purse and other items belonging to her.

The man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The woman was treated and released for a gunshot wound to her arm.

The killing was Oakland’s 51st homicide of the year. Last year at this time there were 49 homicides in Oakland.

In a seperateAbout 10:30 p.m. Monday a 25-year-old Oakland man was shot in the leg as he sat in a car parked in the 7600 block of Halliday Avenue. A 23-year-old woman who was with him in the car was not injured.

Officer Rob Roche said Tuesday a gunman approached the car on foot and began shooting at the occupants before fleeing. The woman drove the wounded man to a hospital in another car where he was in fair condition.

Roche said the man told police he did not know why anyone would want to shoot him.

About the same time as that shooting, a man was shot in the face while he sat in a car in the 7500 block of Hillside Street by a gunman who fled on foot.

The man was taken to a hospital where he was in stable condition. Police don’t have a motive and no arrests have been made.
