July 28—ROSWELL — The search is still on for the man who shot two people with a rifle Saturday night in Roswell at a youth football game.

Todd Wildermuth, Roswell’s spokesman, said that the two victims, a 35-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, could not identify the shooter because he was wearing a bandana over his face.

Those witnesses said they saw a man in a black shirt running from the scene around 7:30 p.m. Saturday carrying a rifle.

Police did say they believe the suspect was driving a “lifted” black Chevrolet or GMC truck.

Witnesses attending a children’s flag football game at Stiles Field on the 800 block of S. Wyoming, near the incident reported hearing multiple gunshots to the police.

The two victims were inside a vehicle at the time of the shooting.

According to the incident report, bullets struck the vehicle where the two victims were sitting leaving bullet holes in the hood, window shield and passenger door.

Both victims were treated for non-life threatening gunshot wounds at a local hospital.

No other injuries were reported.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Roswell Police at 575-624-6770.
