ROSEPINE, La. (AP) - Rosepine Mayor Donna Duvall says Police Chief James Parrot has resigned in a plea deal with state prosecutors.

Duvall tells the American Press (https://bit.ly/1eOXZNb) said Deputy Chief Andre Westlake will step into the position temporarily until a formal election can be held in October.

Parrot was indicted in December 2014 on charges of malfeasance, stalking and sexual misconduct. He pleaded not guilty to those charges in March.

The Attorney General’s office says after conferring with the victims involved a plea agreement was reached involving two counts of misdemeanor simple battery and one count of misdemeanor stalking. The pleas will be entered at Parrot’s next court appearance in October.

Parrot, arrested in August, was accused of using police equipment to stalk his ex-wife and a male friend and take photos of them.
