July 28—Selfies have become a global obsession and now this obsession is beginning to destroy lives. In Saudi Arabia taking a selfie has led to a divorce.

According to media reports, a Saudi woman was visiting her husband’s family for Eid Al Fitr holidays. At this occasion, she took a selfie along with the family to put it on social media to which her mother-in-law objected to. This led to an argument between the two women.

According to a report in the Sada newspaper, the mother-in-law became furious and told her not put pictures of her family and herself on social media. She added that the woman needed to be disciplined.

The woman answered back, triggering a heated argument. The woman’s husband was alerted to the argument because of the commotion. Upon learning the cause, he lost his temper and immediately divorced his wife for offending his mother.
