July 28—PORTLAND, Maine — Portland’s police chief said Tuesday his department has arrested the second man he believes to be responsible for a deadly May 25 shooting at an Old Port recording studio.

Portland Police Chief Michael Sauschuck said Tuesday morning that 30-year-old Gang Deng Majok, arrested Monday, is the second and likely final person against whom the department will press charges for the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Treyjon Arsenault and for wounding another man.

Sauschuck declined to say whether others could face charges as a result of the late-night fight at the studio that police believe led to the shooting. Police said before they believe were 11 people were in the studio that night.

Sauschuck said Majok was arrested at his girlfriend’s house in Saco by police from Saco and Biddeford police departments, a U.S. Marshals Office task force and the Maine Drug Enforcement Administration.

He said drug officials were involved because of past drug investigations involving Majok.

Police have charged Majok and 20-year-old Johnny Ouch, arrested in Westbrook earlier this month, with murder and elevated aggravated assault. Sauschuck declined to state whether they think one of those men ultimately is responsible for Arsenault’s death or whether both will face murder charges, saying that’s a matter for investigators at the Attorney General’s Office.

“Our hearts go out to the victim and the victim’s family,” Sauschuck said Tuesday.

He declined to state what officials know, if anything, about the relationship between Ouch and Majok before the night of the shooting at Da Block Studios, at 371 Fore St.

Sauschuck said Majok is being held without bail at the Cumberland County Jail, and he expects Majok’s arraignment to take place Wednesday.
