COVINGTON, La. (AP) - A 21-year-old Slidell man has been sentenced to life in prison for his role in the murder of a man during a drug robbery.

NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports (https://bit.ly/1OMPTH2) Judge Allison Penzato handed Bobby Isidore the mandatory sentence Monday during a hearing in Covington.

A jury on July 9 convicted Isidore of second-degree murder in the shooting death of 22-year-old Leighton Powe Jr. in 2013.

Prosecutors say Isidore was with a group who planned to rob Powe after luring him to what he thought was a marijuana sale. Powe climbed into the front passenger side of a parked truck in Slidell, only to have Isidore, who was sitting in a back seat, grab him. During the robbery, prosecutors say another man shot Power once in the head.
