ST. LOUIS (AP) - Electricity utility Ameren says more than 2,600 homes and businesses are without power in the St. Louis area after storms that rolled through the region.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1D8pxhb) says a peak of more than 8,200 Ameren customers were without service after the storm Monday afternoon.

The National Weather Service says scattered thunderstorms were possible Tuesday afternoon, although no severe weather was expected.

A heat advisory was in effect through Tuesday night. Temperatures were expected to reach the upper 90s, with a heat index of 110.
