WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) - A pastor at a church in the Milwaukee suburb of Waukesha has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a child.

The Waukesha County sheriff’s office says Peter Knebel was arrested Sunday, and online court records say he was charged Monday with first-degree child sexual assault. The sheriff’s office says Knebel was a pastor at Fox River Christian Church and was also a school bus driver.

A criminal complaint says a girl told someone that Knebel touched her inappropriately while she was seated on his lap and playing computer games in his church office.

Executive pastor Mark Roberts says the church reported what happened to authorities and suspended Knebel. Roberts says Knebel wasn’t assigned to work with children.

A message seeking comment was sent to an attorney listed as representing Knebel.
