ROSEMEAD, Calif. (AP) - Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies say a woman is in custody after her son was killed in their Rosemead motel room.

Deputy Amber Smith tells City News Service that 49-year-old Lai (LYE) Hang was booked for investigation of murder and bail was set at $1 million.

Smith says they don’t have a motive yet, but George Hang apparently died in a room at the Valley Hotel earlier Monday. She says the shooting was not reported to authorities for more than five hours, at 10:10 a.m.

Witnesses told deputies they heard shots around 5 a.m. The victim’s mother called 911 and was taken in for questioning. Smith says a gun was found in the hotel room.
