July 28—West Virginians are invited to hear Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders speak via live teleconference Wednesday at 7 p.m.

More than 50,000 people are coming together across the country in homes, businesses and public buildings to hear Sanders speak live.

In Beckley, interested residents are gathering at 110 Marshall. Other meeting locations include Hawks Nest Lodge in Ansted, Hardee’s on U.S. 460 in Princeton and the White Sulphur Springs Library in Greenbrier County.

According to a press release, attendees will have the chance to hear more about Sander’s vision for the country. This teleconference tour is part of Sander’s campaign, which focuses on not accepting funds form large corporations or Super PACs.

Selina Vickers, a Fayette County resident supporting Sanders says, “The most important thing that we can do as Americans is to get corporations out of the political process. Campaigns need to be funded by people, not corporations with billions of dollars to influence our representatives.

“Bernie Sanders has been fighting to get corporations out of politics for years. No other politician running for the presidency has campaign finance reform on their agenda. They can’t because they are taking huge amounts of corporate money. Bernie Sanders isn’t taking any corporate money, and never has.”

Sanders is serving his second term in the U.S. Senate from Vermont. Prior to his term in the Senate, he served in the U.S. House of Representatives for 16 years.
