PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - A 24-year-old woman has been sentenced to nearly six years in prison for attacking a stranger with a knife outside a Milwaukie bar.

The Oregonian reports (https://bit.ly/1Jrh1en ) that Danielle Marie Welsh was sentenced Monday to five years and 10 months for stabbing and slashing another woman in the parking lot of the River Road House Bar in March 2014. She pleaded guilty to second-degree assault.

Prosecutors say Welsh and her victim were at the bar with mutual friends. Welsh believed the other woman made some disparaging comments about her and proceeded to stab the other woman in the abdomen and legs.

In a letter to the court, the victim said she has lost feeling in her legs as a result of the attack and can no longer run or hike.
