OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. (AP) - Authorities say a 16-year-old died when a riding mower flipped and landed on top of him in DeSoto County.

Dick Hackett, a spokesman for the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department, tells The Commercial Appeal (https://bit.ly/1D8rVot) Barrett Williams was on the mower Tuesday when it flipped and fell on top of him in a culvert filled with water. The accident occurred near Vaiden and Craft roads.

Hackett said Williams was preparing to enter his senior year in high school.

He says no one else was injured.
