AURORA, Ky. (AP) - The Western Kentucky State Park Race Series starts up next week with the first event at Kenlake State Resort Park near Aurora.

It’s the Hot August 5K, and it’s set for Aug. 8. It’s the first of five state park footraces scheduled this year in western Kentucky.

All five races are open to runners of all ages. The overall championship will be based on a point system.

The other races are Run Through the Forest 5K at Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park near Dawson Springs on Sept. 26, Trick or Trot 5K at Lake Barkley State Resort Park near Cadiz on Oct. 24, Stars and Stripes 5K at Kentucky Dam Village State Park near Gilbertsville on Nov. 7 and Reindeer Run 5K at John James Audubon State Park in Henderson on Dec. 5.
