DIXON, Ill. (AP) - More than two dozen bronze plaques will soon mark historical sites throughout the northern Illinois city of Dixon.

The (Dixon) Telegraph reports (https://bit.ly/1IqNHUG ) the city’s Historic Preservation Commission has identified about 30 properties as part of the project.

The plaques will be inscribed with a brief history of each structure. Most of the sites ae clustered downtown.

City Hall posted its plaque on Monday.

Interim City Manager David Nord says owners of properties eligible to receive plaques should have received a letter from previous Mayor Jim Burke.

Nord says those who want the plaques won’t have to pay for them, but must agree to install them.
