CULPEPER, Va. (AP) - Automotive supplier Continental plans a $49 million expansion of its manufacturing facility in Culpeper County.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe says the expansion is part of a three-phase modernization and retooling project. He says the project will increase the facility’s production capacity and could potentially create up to 25 jobs.

McAuliffe announced the project on Tuesday at an event in Culpeper.

The plant is part of Continental’s Chassis and Safety Division.

McAuliffe approved a $175,000 grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund to assist Culpeper with the project, and a $550,000 performance-based grant from the Virginia Investment Partnership program.
