LAS VEGAS (AP) - State officials say they’ve caught a female inmate less than 24 hours after she escaped from a work crew in the Las Vegas area.

The Nevada Department of Corrections says officers found 21-year-old Kerran Dade near Boulder Highway and Nellis Boulevard at about 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday. She was arrested after a brief chase on foot.

Authorities say Dade ran off at about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday while working with the Department of Forestry near U.S. Route 95 and Wyoming Avenue in eastern Las Vegas.

Dade has been in state custody since May and is serving one to four years for an attempted home invasion conviction out of Clark County.
