OAKLAND, Fla. (AP) - A central Florida man has been arrested on charges of starting a fire that killed a 5-year-old boy and left a 3-year-old boy unconscious in the mobile home they all shared with the boys’ mother.

Luis Cruz was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated child abuse. Investigators in Oakland say 19-year-old Cruz set fire to the mobile home last month.

Neighborhood boys rescued a toddler and infant, and Cruz was able to get out. But authorities say the two boys were left inside.

Authorities say when Cruz was asked if anybody else was in the home, he said no. Firefighters later found the boys unconscious.

It was unknown if Cruz had an attorney since his case hadn’t yet been posted on the clerk’s website.
