FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - The Larimer County District Attorney has cleared two Fort Collins police officers of wrongdoing in the fatal shooting of a man earlier this month.

The Fort Collins Coloradoan reports (https://noconow.co/1MwVVNw ) that that the District Attorney determined officers Adam Brunjes and Tyler Patterson were justified in shooting 22-year-old David Wheat Jr. 11 times on July 18.

Officials say the officers were called to an apartment complex for a verbal disturbance involving a drunk man who was threatening to kill himself. When officers arrived they saw Wheat stab a woman in the shoulder.

Assistant Chief Cory Christensen said Tuesday that the officers fired a total of 11 shots, a detail that had been missing from the initial report.
