SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Search and rescue teams had to use a helicopter to find a hiker who became distressed in Mill Creek Canyon.

KUTV-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1VMuIcT ) that the 25-year-old man was with a group in a remote part of the mountain near Dog Lake Tuesday when he became sick and was not able to get down on his own.

Officials called for a Department of Public Safety Helicopter which then took the man to a waiting ambulance.

Unified Police Lt. Lex Bell says the helicopter was invaluable in the rescue, which took about an hour.

Officials say cold temperatures overnight may have contributed to the man’s illness.
