MILWAUKEE (AP) - A small, single-engine passenger plane has crashed and caught fire at Milwaukee’s Timmerman Airport, killing both people onboard.

Milwaukee County Department of Transportation Director Brian Dranzik said in a statement the accident happened around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday at the airport on the city’s northwest side.

Dranzik says no one on the ground was injured.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office says the identities of the passengers aren’t being released until relatives are notified.

A representative of the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office says autopsies are scheduled for Thursday.

The National Transportation Safety Board has been notified and will investigate.
