MILWAUKEE (AP) - Police say a 16-year-old boy was found with a small semiautomatic pistol while he was being held at a Milwaukee County juvenile detention facility.

The Milwaukee Police Department said in a news release Tuesday that the handgun fell from his body while being escorted to a holding cell at the Milwaukee County Children’s Court Center.

The department says the boy had been searched by a corrections officer and went through medical screening, and was also searched twice by police after he was arrested in a stolen car Friday.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (https://bit.ly/1fGklpZ ) reports Milwaukee police and county officials are investigating the incident.
