MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - A sinkhole in Manchester waylaid school buses trying to pick up children after a New Hampshire Fisher Cats baseball game ended.

Officials say a water main burst Wednesday, causing the sinkhole on Electric Street.

WMUR-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1Jw8kj8 ) that buses trying to pick up about 1,000 children from Wednesday’s baseball game got trapped on the street, and had to be rerouted down a rail trail.

A woman working with one of the out-of-state organizations that brought the children to the game said Fisher Cats employees treated the children well during the 90 minutes they had to wait for their buses.

City officials said they hoped to have water service restored in a few hours, but it could take most of the night to repair the road.
