FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say a 49-year-old Fayetteville man was beaten, tied up, and was left in a closet for as long as two days before he was strangled with a belt.
Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office lawyer Ronnie Mitchell told The Fayetteville Observer (https://bit.ly/1T9gNLB ) that the three people involved then put William Foster’s body in a small storage building and set it on fire.
Foster’s body was found June 23. One of the three suspects in the case had a first appearance in court Thursday where more details about the killing were released.
Mitchell says Foster had a relationship with 24-year-old Misty Burns, but broke it off, then may have caught Burns and her brother 26-year-old Christopher Charles and her 24-year-old boyfriend Justin Quick burglarizing his home.
