WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (AP) - Police have arrested a Long Island man they say committed nine bank robberies in the last three months.

Suffolk County Police say Friday 46-year-old Troy Brinkhuis has been arrested on nine counts of third-degree robbery. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.

Authorities allege Brinkhuis committed robberies at eight different banks since April 8. They charge he stuck up one of the banks twice.

Police say he went into the banks with a threatening note that demanded cash.

Officers identified him as a suspect through surveillance video. Police did not provide any other details.

Brinkhuis is scheduled to face a judge Saturday.
