COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The father of a motorist killed in a drunken driving crash alleges an Ohio State Highway Patrol dispatcher didn’t notify an officer about a reported reckless driver before the crash.

The lawsuit alleges the dispatcher and the patrol should have known such a failure could lead to harm.

The drunken driver was sentenced to eight years in prison for the July 2013 crash that killed Chillicothe (chihl-ih-KAHTH’-ee) attorney Annie Rooney.

The Chillicothe Gazette (https://ohne.ws/1FWnsiR ) reports Rooney’s father filed a complaint this week against the patrol and the dispatcher in the Ohio Court of Claims, seeking at least $25,000 in damages. It alleges the dispatcher failed in her duties and caused Rooney’s wrongful death.

A patrol spokesman declined comment.
