SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Utah transportation officials are preparing for the rush of Fourth of July traffic by making sure traffic lights stay green.

KSL-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1GUKicn ) the Utah Department of Transportation predicts 20 to 30 percent more Utah residents will be heading to their holiday destinations this weekend. To keep traffic flowing, officials will be keeping lights green near Stadium of Fire in Provo, where 40,000 people are expected to catch the fireworks displays.

UDOT’s Traffic Operations Center will be able to help flow traffic in every city in the state.

Traffic manager Eric Rasband says it only takes a second and a couple clicks of a button to make all the lights glow green. He says keeping the lights green has significantly cut down on traffic time.
