OSAGE, W.Va. (AP) - A bridge on U.S. 19 in Monongalia County has been named in honor of a soldier who died in Holland during World War II.

The James Elwood Wickline Memorial Bridge spans Scotts Run near Osage.

Media outlets report that the bridge was dedicated during a ceremony on Thursday.

Wickline was a 21-year-old member of the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment. The Osage native died on Sept. 17, 1944, when his parachute failed to deploy during a liberation operation.
