CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - The departing head of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services says she is leaving because she wants to try something else.

Joan Evans announced her resignation recently. Her last day is Friday.

During her eight years with the agency, Evans oversaw the merger of the Department of Workforce Services and the Department of Employment.

Evans tells the Casper Star-Tribune ( ) that she leaves feeling positive about the department.

Gov. Matt Mead has named Del McOmie, the chief engineer for the Wyoming Department of Transportation, interim director until a permanent director can be found.
