FREEPORT, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a Long Island man spent more than a year stealing plumbing supplies from the company where he worked and selling them on eBay.

David Bevilacqua, of East Meadow, was arrested Friday in connection with the thefts from Green Art Plumbing in Freeport between Dec. 13, 2013 and Feb. 22, 2015.

Nassau County police say the 36-year-old Bevilacqua was working as a shipping clerk when the company’s owners noticed supplies missing and traced them to him. Bevilacqua was fired in February 2015.

Police say Bevilacqua had been selling the stolen items on eBay. They say the company’s loss was more than $50,000.

Bevilacqua was to be arraigned Saturday on grand larceny charges.

It was not clear whether he had an attorney who could comment.
