COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) - Columbus police are investigating separate killings that claimed the lives of two men.

Authorities say both slayings happened on the Fourth of July.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said 35-year-old Zachery Lenard Clark was pronounced dead of multiple gunshots at 2:39 a.m. Saturday.

Police Lt. John McMichael said that about two hours later, a 24-year-old man later identified as Blake Bernard Berry was taken to Midtown Medical Center, where he later died of a gunshot wound.

McMichael tells The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer (https://bit.ly/1dGdRGq) that both shootings are under investigation as homicides, which are Columbus’ sixth and seventh of the year. No arrests had been made.
