PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A teenager was stabbed to death in a drugstore parking lot early Sunday and three men were shot to death around the city in a violent aftermath to the Fourth of July holiday, police said.
The 17-year-old girl was found with stab wounds to her neck, back and arms shortly before 3:30 a.m. in the Walgreens lot in the Hunting Park neighborhood of north Philadelphia, police said. She was pronounced dead at Einstein Hospital.
Christopher Gardner told WPVI-TV that he and the victim have a 2-year-old daughter together. He described her as a good person and a dedicated student and mother.
“She was cool, she stayed smiling no matter what she was going through. Young, smart, a great mom,” Gardner said.
Police said a 44-year-old man was found in a pool of blood on a street in Kensington, in north Philadelphia, shortly after 1 a.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers were called just after 3 a.m. to the Feltonville neighborhood, where they found a bullet-riddled car and a 21-year-old man shot to death inside. The 21-year-old driver who fled when he heard the shooting but was wounded in the thigh and foot was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center in stable condition, police said.
Shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday, a 26-year-old man died minutes after he was found shot on a street in southwest Philadelphia.
And two women reportedly stabbed by another woman in the Germantown section of the city just after 4 a.m. Sunday were taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center in stable condition, police said.
Police said no arrests were immediately made in any of the cases, and the names of the victims weren’t being released pending notification of relatives. Officials say there is a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in all homicide investigations.
