HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) - State police are investigating if there was a connection between an explosion Saturday in a wooded area of Hamden and a man’s body found nearby on West Rock State Park land.

Police said they are looking for two men seen in the area around the same time in a gold- or champagne-colored Nissan Altima with Florida license plate. Investigators say they believe it was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing public danger.

Hamden police went to the area on Wintergreen Avenue around 11 a.m. after neighbors reported hearing an explosion. State police later were called.

Hamden Police Chief Thomas Wydra told the New Haven Register the body was wrapped in plastic or similar material and there were signs of an explosion near it.

The victim’s name has not been released.
