SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - A traveling version of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington is coming to Springfield.

On Wednesday, motorcycle riders from various military organizations will escort the truck carrying the Traveling Vietnam Veteran Wall from Thayer to Springfield. The Springfield News-Leader (https://sgfnow.co/1S0sPo8) reports that it will be on display from Thursday through Sunday at the American Legion Vietnam War Memorial Post 639.

Post commander Mike Goforth says the wall honors veterans who often “didn’t get treated right” upon their return from war.

There is no charge to visit the traveling wall, which at 6 feet tall and almost 300 feet wide, is 60 percent of the size of the original. Post 639 has an online fundraising campaign to help offset the cost of bringing the wall to Springfield.
