HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a 34-year-old woman has been arrested for stabbing a man in the Long Island restaurant where she works.

Elsa Marina Saravia-Martinez was arrested at 3:30 a.m. Sunday after the stabbing at the Miranda River Cafe in Hempstead.

Nassau County police say Saravia-Martinez stabbed the 32-year-old victim in the abdomen with a kitchen knife. He is in stable condition after surgery.

Saravia-Martinez was arrested at her Hempstead home on charges of attempted murder, assault and weapon possession.

She is due to be arraigned Monday in first district court in Hempstead.

It wasn’t clear if Saravia-Martinez had an attorney who could comment on the charges.
