PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) - An eleventh-hour settlement has averted a strike at a mental health and substance abuse treatment center in Pittsfield.
The union representing clinicians and direct care workers at The Brien Center said they were on the job Monday after reaching a deal with management that calls for a 7 percent increase over three years.
The agreement, which must still be ratified by the full union, prevented a walkout at Berkshire County’s largest provider of behavioral health services.
The Brien Center has also agreed to create a new “overflow” facility to expand services for children.
According to its website, the center treated about 10,000 people last year, including 4,000 children.
