CNN’s “State of the Union” host Jake Tapper slammed liberal critics who have accused the Sunday morning show of lacking diversity, pointing out that it’s not his fault all the 2016 Democratic presidential candidates are white.

“Gender imbalance on sunday shows is out of whack. here’s the data,” Oliver Willis from Media Matters for America (MMFA) tweeted to Mr. Tapper, including a link to a MMFA article.

“Oh look MMFA now discouraging Sunday shows from booking Bernie,” Mr. Tapper responded sarcastically, referring to Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders. “My roundtable today was two men and two women.”

“There’s also a huge racial disparity w sunday shows as well *shrug*,” Mr. Willis responded.

“I can’t help it if the entire Democratic field is white,” Mr. Tapper shot back. “Do I get points for interviewing Cruz, Carson and Rubio?”

The CNN anchor received heaps of conservative praise for the frank tweet, including from The Washington Times columnist Tammy Bruce.

“Yes, @jaketapper just won Twitter,” she wrote.
