GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) - A 26-year-old Colorado man has pleaded “no contest” to aggravated vehicular assault for a head-on crash south of Gillette that killed a passenger in the other car.

The Gillette News Record reports (https://bit.ly/1KnfhCx ) Robert Reese of Fort Collins, Colorado, entered his plea on June 29. Campbell County District Judge Thomas Rumpke scheduled sentencing for Oct 15.

Investigators say Reese was intoxicated and driving in the wrong lane of Highway 59 when his vehicle collided head-on with one driven by Braydon Donahoo on Sept. 20, 2014. Donahoo’s passenger, 29-year-old Chad Nobach of Gillette, was killed.

Reese said he had no memory of the crash, so the state could not accept a guilty plea. Court records say Reese’s blood-alcohol level was 0.25 percent, just over three times the limit at which a person is considered legally intoxicated.
