MESA, Ariz. (AP) - Police say a man has been fatally shot after he came toward officers while allegedly holding a large, steel pole.

Mesa police say officers responded to a disturbance call near Broadway Road and Mesa Drive on Monday afternoon.

When officers arrived, police say a man grabbed a steel pole that was about four-feet long out of the back of a nearby truck.

Police say the man started to walk toward officers in a manner that made them feel threatened and an officer told the man to stop.

They say the man refused and a police officer opened fire.

The name of the man hasn’t been released yet.

Police say no officers were injured.
