SAN PABLO, Calif. (AP) - A teen is in critical condition after he crashed into a patrol car and was shot twice by a San Pablo police officer standing nearby.

KNTV-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1JJiu0N) police say the boy was trying to flee when he accelerated toward a cruiser and crashed into it. An officer standing nearby fired and hit the teen, who was taken to the hospital.

Sgt. Brian Bubar said in a news release that the officer was being treated for unspecified injuries.
