MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) - A bell can now be heard ringing in the belfry of the 1879 Presbyterian Church after a nearly 10-year absence.

The Mail Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1S3cnDx ) the years-long search has come to an end after the church was given a bell that was used in a Coos County grammar school, which closed in 1968.

The original bell was moved to the church’s new home in 2006.

Joanne Wilcox, who heads a church team that maintains the old building, says the new bell has gone through various upgrades to meet regulations and requirements.

Lumen Dei Church, which rents the building for Sunday services, will be ringing the bell regularly. The bell will also be rung for special events.

The new bell was installed in May and a dedication was held in June.
