NEW YORK (AP) - Police say the number of shootings over the July 4th weekend in New York City declined this year.

There were 14 shooting incidents starting Friday evening through Sunday. There were 27 reported during the same holiday period in 2014.

Only one of the 14 people stuck by this year’s gunfire died.

Police say the 42-year-old victim was shot in a dispute over a dice game in Brooklyn.
