SMYRNA, Ga. (AP) - A metro Atlanta police department is launching a program meant to protect business owners who have to make large cash deposits.

Smyrna police said in a statement the program titled “Call Before You Go” will provide business owners with escorts to banks within the department’s jurisdiction.

Officials say the program is meant to be an additional means of security for business owners who don’t use armored car services and have to make large cash deposits.

Police say business owners should call the department’s non-emergency line to request an escort.
