WAYCROSS, Ga. (AP) - Police are investigating a train collision that claimed the life of a pedestrian in south Georgia.

Waycross police say the crash happened shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday on South Nichols Street, near the intersection of Francis Street.

Police say 41-year-old Jessica Elaine Parker of Waycross was walking north along South Nichols Street when they say she disregarded the railroad crossing arm barrier and crossed in front of the oncoming CSX train.

Parker was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ware County deputy coroner.

Waycross is about 230 miles southeast of Atlanta.
